This past January Pan Rocks was featured @ The Ultimate NAMM Jam at the 2020 NAMM Show in Anaheim, CA where they had the honor to perform a tribute to the late Legendary drummer of RUSH, Neil Peart. Pan Rocks were joined by Prog-Rock Legend Mike Portnoy (Sons of Apollo/Winery Dogs/Dream Theater), bassist Stu Hamm (Steve Vai/Joe Satriani) Paulie Z (The Sweet) and Violin Rocker Mark Wood (Trans Siberian Orchestra). Pan Rocks also performed the Who classic "Baba O'Riley", where they were joined by drummer and Pan Rocks Producer Matt Starr (Ace Frehley/Mr. Big).

MIKE PORTNOY FOR TRIBUTE TO "RUSH"
Steel Drum Orchestra, “Pan Rocks”, lead by founder Tracy Thornton, returned to Los Angeles to record a tribute to RUSH, "Pan Rocks RUSH!. This time around Mike Portnoy (Sons of Apollo, Winery Dogs) was tapped to handle drumming duties for the recording project.
"I am excited to take part in this unique musical experience unlike anything I have done in my career...and it is always an honor to pay tribute to one of my biggest inspirations, my hero and friend, Neil Peart", adds Portnoy.
Bassist Philip Bynoe (Steve Vai band) and guitarist Pete Thorn (Chris Cornell) rounds out the band.

This past summer Pan Rocks went into Ocean Studios Burbank in Los Angeles, CA for the “Project LA” sessions. Over 25 steelpannists from all over the US & Canada came in to record with LA Rock Icons Stephen Perkins (Jane’s Addiction), Billy Sheehan (Mr. Big/David Lee Roth), Tracii Guns (LA Guns) & Bruce Kulick (KISS/Grand Funk Railroad), all produced by Matt Starr (Mr. Big/Ace Frehley). The project was mixed by Smiley Sean (Tommy Lee) and mastered by Dave Collins (Metallica/Soundgarden/The Police). The groundbreaking project was recorded in 360 video and a documentary will be released in the near future of this first-of-its-kind recording session.
